This full-time 705-hour program is offered at our centre in Campbell's Bay.
Program Objectives
The Institutional and Home Care Assistance program prepares students for the trade or occupation of patient service associate and home support worker in the health and social services sector.
This profession aims to provide care and assistance in public, private and community health care networks to persons of all ages who are sick or who have physical, psychological, or psychosocial disabilities. The rationale of this occupation is to provide aid to patients so that they may recover or maintain their autonomy and overall health condition.
The attendants are trained to meet the general needs of clients, to help them compensate for their disabilities, to guide and support them in maintaining or restoring their autonomy and good health.
Employment Perspectives
Program graduates work in public, private and community health networks, in particular care units, as well as in various living environments that offer basic care and services to individuals, such as nursing homes, group homes, residential and long-term care centres (CHSLD) or similar types of environments.
